I am interested in observing human behaviour, mannerisms and the relationships that we build between one another. Many of my ideas derive from these characteristics, which are then presented through a staged-like aesthetic, using fictional characters to portray real life scenarios. The result may range from the simple actions of daily life to the strange and twisted subcultures that surround us today. My objective is to examine in detail the different forms of human reality and social norms. I work primarily within digital media, with my main focus in digital photography. The staged aesthetics of my work comes from an early interest in fashion photography mixed with Hollywood movie scenes from films like Little Miss Sunshine, Chicago and American Beauty. The complex social structures of humans offer a wide and endless range of observations that I can take inspiration from for my artwork. The values, social norms and rituals that form the fundamentals of human society will always continue to evolve and change with the times. But whether I am examining the controversial world of child pageantry or the emotional depths of a hoarder, I hope to present matters that allow us to contemplate who we are mentally, physically and socially.
